Day 7 Geometry

Session 2  Dorothy

An amazing amount of online learning out there for the tamariki and teachers. I would like to put a lot of these links onto my class site for the children for their follow up learning.

Session 3 Maths Talks - Elena

I am going to use this for my first Geometry maths talk.
Link it to 90 degree / right angles.

Session 4 What is Geometry - Donna

Good video

Good resources.

Really good ideas for Maths task boards.
Learning and follow up.
Use mathematical language.
Consolidation and maintenance is key!
Ongoing practise supports maths understanding.

Session 5 - Shapes and angles

Great activity on Mathagon for using the protracter.

Session 6 - 3D shapes - Elena

3D shape hunt

Practical classroom equipment.

Play, creating shapes.

Bet boxes - let them practise folding and unfolding boxes and seeing the nets

Good activity to reinforce that there are various net shapes.

Session 7 - Transformations

This will be great to link to my topic learning. We are going to create a tukutuku panel this term.

Session 8 - Pathways

Very good activity.

I very much look forward to teaching geometric thinking. It is the area that I had planned to teach this term. I will make a geometry page on my class site.

  1. Kia ora Trina,
There are lots of great resources you can add to your class site. I am looking forward to seeing the geometry page when you have designed it. The more I explore Mathegon the more amazing resources and activities I find. It is one of my favourite Maths sites.
I am looking forward to also seeing your Tukutuku panels and how you link and connect maths learning.
